Today. I’m going to share with you a very easy way to make a few hundreds and maybe a few thousands of dollars every single month in passive income, which means you only do work once and then you get paid again and again. This is something that you can do no matter where you live. You don’t need any experience for this. Trust me, and you can do it in four easy steps. Let’s dove in. All right, you guys.
Amazon KDP
So I want to tell you a little story first, because it will resonate with many of you. So the other day I was talking to a client of mine. She runs a wedding planning company, and she was telling me that she was so, so proud for having created a notion template that she will then be able to use to automate her business. And then it clicked.
I realized that there would be an even better idea for her not only to generate leads in her business, but also to make more money as a new stream of income. And that is Amazon KDP. KDP stands for Kindle Direct Publishing, and the idea that I gave to my client was to create a low content book and use that not only to make money on Amazon, but also to generate leads for her wedding planning business.
Amazon KDP – What are Low Content Books?
So let me explain what low content books are, essentially. Think of content as any type of value or information or well written words usually that you find in regular books. Low content books are books that are very low on this type of input. So they usually have very little information, very little content that is provided by the author, which in this case would be you. And most of the content is created by the user. So think of low content books as anything like journals or notebooks, diaries or planners, or to do lists or coloring books or puzzle books.

So anything that requires very little personalization and very little writing effort and expects that most of the writing is done by the user themselves. So essentially what I told my client was that she could create a wedding planner that is empty and that anyone who wants to organize their own wedding would be able to buy. And then that would not only generate my client a new stream of income, but also could be a lead magnet into her wedding planning business. This is the content for today.
I want to show you how you can do this as well. Even if you don’t have any writing experience, even if you have no experience at all, you can very easily do this yourself. You can get started, create low content books. You can use Amazon as a way to print produce and sell these low content books. And you would benefit from Amazon’s millions and millions of users as an amazing base to start selling your products.
Create an Amazon KDP account
All right, you guys. So step number one that you will need to take is to create an account. If you don’t have one already, on Amazon. So the link is going to be down below. It’s completely free. What you need to do is go and sign up, register for an account so you can get started to create and sell books on Amazon CD. The process is super easy.
I will not go through it step by step, is very intuitive and what this means is that you will be entering into a world where you benefit from everything that Amazon has to offer The world’s largest retailer is putting their entire infrastructure into your service. So think about this. What you need to do is completely for free.
Create the content for a low content book, upload it on Amazon, KDP, and then start selling it to all of their clients. What this means is that you will probably sell depending on the quality of your local content book and depending on how successful that is. A few units or maybe a few hundreds of units every single month.
And when you make a sale, Amazon will be printing the book if you opt for a paperback or a hardcover, or they will completely delivery digitally if you opt for a Kindle delivery as well, depending on the category of low content books that you will choose to go for.
It makes sense to have a digital version or not only when someone buys your little content book. Amazon will be printing it and will be shipping it using their entire infrastructure. So what this means is that it costs you nothing to get started. You can register for free and you can upload and create your product for free.
It means that you have no inventory because you don’t need to print and have hundreds of books in your basement. Waiting for somebody to order so you can go to the post office and send it to them. That will be something that Amazon takes care of.
And once you make a sale or more, Amazon will pay you royalties. And that could go up to 70% depending again on the category of book low content book that you will be selling as well as where you’re based. So that’s kind of how this works. The first step is super easy. It’s going to take you 5 minutes to get started and register, and then you can start thinking about what kind of low content book you want to create.
Do Your Research – Amazon KDP
All right, you guys, step number two is do your research. You probably know by now if you’ve been here before that I like to take the smart way. I don’t like to go and push too hard. I want to make sure that wherever I choose to focus and put in time and energy is going to give the best return on my time and on my energy.
So I always do my research, my homework before starting any type of business, any type of freelancing activity, any type of side hustle. And the same applies for low content books. There are a few solutions out there that will help you.
The one I prefer to use and that I’ve recommended to my customer is book Vault. So today I will show you step by step how you can use book vault to not only research what are the best keywords, what are the best niches for you, but then also how to create the content of your low content book and basically take you from beginning to end in terms of your creation process so that you are in probably 10 minutes or less ready to upload your low content book to Amazon. So let me share my screen and show you step by step what you need to know.
So when you come to book Fall Dot IO, which is the website that you need to go to and log in to be able to use book, what’s offering you have on the left hand side lots of options in their menu. Now, of course, you can go ahead and watch the tutorials to get familiarized with how the tool works. But today I’ll show you how to use some of the features that I find the most helpful.
So first of all, in order to do your research, you need to make sure that you have research here selected in this dropdown list, and you can go ahead and go to products. When you come to product, you will see this very simple menu and you can go ahead and choose in the category what category of low content you would like to create.
So here you have sketchbook tracker, log book, guest book, comic book activity, book coloring book planner, calendar journal, notebook, and so forth. I’ll go for Planner just because I want to show you what I’ve shown my customer in terms of creating her wedding planner. Okay. So if you go and select planner and then here we go and say wedding and type search, you will see here it gives you examples of the best selling wedding planners You see there is this one here that is completely black and white, that sells about 335 units every month and costs $9. There is this one here with a very nice colorful background or cover says, Look at me getting old, married, This one sells about 320 units and it costs a little bit under $10.
The backyard wedding planner mother of the bride, wedding planner, funny wedding planner, destination wedding planner, mother of the groom, wedding planner and so on and so forth. So you can go ahead and check out all the the best selling products for the category that you would like to explore. And then you see everything you need to know about them. Now, if you click on the title, it’s going to take you to Amazon so you can see all the details about that particular product. Now, another way that you can do your research is by going to the cloud option in the left hand menu. And here you can search for the top 100 best sellers.
You can go all the way to 500, but it’s going to be a little bit overwhelming. So you can stick to 100 or 200 and then here you can go to planner, you can leave the BSR range as is. It’s, you know, just to keep it simple. And then in terms of price range, you can select anything between zero and 100. You can up this a little bit. So it doesn’t show you the free product. But for the purpose of today’s example, I’ll just leave it as it’s and here we’re going to write wedding just because I want to be as specific as possible. So you see, you’re going to get more or less the same information as we had in the product search.
But here you’re going to get all the details, the estimated monthly sales, the BSR, the price, the date it was published and so forth. You see how many ratings they have, what is the rating and so forth. Now, there is yet another way for you to do your research. So if you are like me, even more into data and analytics, you can go and use KDP Spy and this way you can extract a CSV file or an Excel file based on an extension that you will install on your browser. If you use Chrome, then that’s what you will be needing. You will install KDP Spy as an extension to your Chrome browser.
And then you go to Amazon.com, you search for wedding planner like in our case, and then use the extension to extract all the information on that search page. And then you will have a very nice table that you can filter and you can do a lot of more advanced work with. But for the purpose of today’s Article, I’m not going to go into all those details now that we know kind of what we would like to create. Let’s say we like something like this, but that is for the bride and it would have to be something with flowers probably, and a very nice calligraphy writing. And then I would suggest that you look at the title and see how the titles are structured, especially for the best selling ones.
So you see this one says planner and notebook for plans, budgeting, checklists, thoughts and random stuff because planning a wedding is no joke. And then you can see probably the best selling ones have this funny joking title, which is probably what sells the best. And then this one says The Backyard Wedding Planner worksheets, checklists and tools to plan the perfect wedding at home. Okay. So now that we know kind of what we would like to create, next step is to actually go ahead and create the little content book.
Create your Low Content Book – Amazon KDP
Step number three is to create your little content book. And for that, I’m also going to use book vault and you can use book vault entirely, or you can use a combination of Book Bolt and Canva, for example. I’m going to show you how to use book vault. And then we might play a little bit with Canva as well. So let me start sharing my screen and show you step by step. So on Book Vault here, where it says research you need to shift to create. And once you go to create, you will say football designer. This is going to ask you to log in again. And once you’re logged in, it’ll ask you if you want a paperback or hardcover.
We will say paperback, and then it asks you whether you want to design your cover or the interior. So we’re going to start with the cover and then we will move to the interior. In terms of trim size, you can stick to six by nine or you can choose any of the other options. Now, the beauty about low content books is that you can literally keep the same design and just create it in multiple sizes, because for absolutely anything that you would want to create, there are people who want to have a smaller product so that it can fit in their purse or in their pocket, or people who want a bigger one so they can fit more stuff and write more in them.
You can create a whole series with the same design, the same patterns, and just different sizes. So for now, we’re going to stick to six by nine. In terms of people of color, I am actually going to go for premium color because I want to use color outside and inside as well. And in terms of page count, it’s going to be, let’s say, 50 pages you can go ahead and select a color directly. I actually would like to keep it white. Then we can say we would like to add some shapes. Maybe we do some butterflies here. You can upload your own image if you’d like to.
Okay, I’m going to get a bunch of butterflies and then I am going to add text just for the purpose of today’s article. I’m going to leave it here. We can obviously create much more sophisticated designs. We can create them in Canva and import them here just by going to images and click here or draw up images here. It’s just as easy. So for the purpose of the example, I’m going to keep it here. And basically what you need to do is make sure that now you go ahead and download. All right. So now that I have it downloaded, I’m going to go back and design my interior.
So here Coming back to the beginning, it says Choose Template. I’m going to say Interior. I’m going to keep the six by nine. I’m going to go back to the 50 pages. I’ll see no bleed and submit. And then actually what I’ve done in the meantime, I went ahead on Canva and I created my own design, and I will just show you how that looks. Alright. So in terms of the interior, you have loads of examples those loads of templates that you can choose from. So if you make a simple notebook, for example, or a reading list notebook or a to do list or a grid notebook, then you literally just need to choose from one of the tons of templates that book Bolt already offers you. It’s super, super easy. You can literally be done with your content book in 5 minutes.
So here I’m going to say six by nine page count 50 and then select one and go download and then I’m done. Alternatively, you can go ahead to Canva, which is what I’ve done. You can create your pretty designs If you want something a lot more sophisticated, I’ve created something based on a can of a template as well. Make sure it has the same number of pages that you said your cover would be covering, because otherwise it will not fit. And Amazon is going to tell you that it doesn’t fit.
So I’m going to just go and copy one of the pages enough times until I have 50, and then I’ll be right back. All right, you guys. So I’m done with the template for the interior. I’ll go ahead and download it as a PDF so you can go PDF Standard or PDF print whatever works for you.
Amazon KDP – Publish your Low Content Book
I would suggest that you go PDF print so that it has better quality and then go ahead and download and now that you’re done with the design, we have reached step number four, which is uploading your low content eBook onto Amazon Club. And this is probably one of the easiest steps. Actually, everything has been really easy, right? So let me show you exactly what you need to do. You come to dot Amazon dot com and you will be able to choose if you want a Kindle e-book or a paperback. The hardcover is still in beta testing, so you can go ahead and opt for a paperback and then it will ask you for the language we’re going to keep to English and then book title.
And you’ve seen how the other products in your niche are titled so you can use a similar structure. In my case, I’m going to say wedding planner, budget planner to do list, guest list I’ll skip the subtitle. It’s not a series, don’t have an edition number. In terms of the author, that’s going to be you. I have no contributors. And then for the description, you will need to write everything that makes your product unique so that people who want to buy it know why they should choose yours. Versus some of the other ones that exist out there. Okay. And then in terms of publishing rights, you are going to say, I own the copyright for keywords.
If you want to do your research properly, you can go ahead to book bold and use the recommendations that they give you. For now, I’m going to put in wedding planner planner wedding to do list budget planner. And then also in terms of categories book, what is going to help you figure out which ones to use because they are not very intuitive. So for the sake of today’s article, I’m going to go nonfiction family and relationships, marriage and long term relationships, and I’m going to save and know there is no adult content, save and continue and then you’re going to say, yes, I want the free ISBN. The ISBN is the unique identifier for your little content book publication date.
You can choose whatever date you want, but I suggest you choose the day you’re on. And then for print options, I’m going to go for premium color interior because my low content book has color design, the trim size. I’m going to stick to six by nine, no bleed and mud. You can also go for glossy if you want. And then here you’re going to go ahead and upload your interior. And here either launch cover create or if you haven’t designed your cover with book, bold or canvas, or you can just drag one that you’ve created already. And once you do that, then you can submit your book for review.
First of all, it’s going to check your trimming and if the edges are properly fitting and if it’s going to look good when printed, and then you’re going to submit it for a review once the book is reviewed, and the product is approved, then it will become available online on Amazon’s marketplace within 24 to 48 hours. So literally within ten, 15, maybe 20 minutes you will be able to create one product. Imagine what you can do in a weekend and then within 24 to 48 hours, all of the products that you will have submitted will be available for purchase on Amazon. So imagine if you were to sell, let’s say, five, ten or maybe 50 or maybe 100 books, low content books every single month.
Now as I said, royalties will be somewhere around 60, 70% of the price of your product. Of course, if it’s a colored one, and if it has loads of pages, then it will cost more to produce, which means that your margin is going to be lower and that means the royalty is going to be lower as well. So Amazon is going to show you exactly how much you’re going to make for each product that you sell. You can do the math. I know you can. So I will not bore you with that. But you see where I’m going with this, you can very easily make a few hundreds, if not thousands of dollars every single month simply by producing and selling low content books on Amazon kdp.
Of course, I recommend that you try to find a niche that is very close to your heart so that you know more about the customer and that you can give them something of value.
